How we Spend our Days
I’ve never claimed to be great at budgeting my time. Now that I am responsible for a tiny human’s time, too, all bets are off. I’m pretty good about trying to follow a schedule for him where sleep is concerned, but that was a necessity. I have started to realize that I can’t completely wing it anymore when it comes to E’s awake time.
There is a lot of playing, reading stories, going for walks, feeding (both breast milk and solid foods, which I plan to post about another day soon), napping, sitting outside on the grass under the trees, and general chatting and cuddling. It’s not like we just sit and stare at each other all day. But now that I’m going to be doing the temporary-SAHM thing a bit longer than expected, I feel like I need to get a bit more serious about planning activities for him. We go to Mommy & Me class on Fridays, and we see my parents once a week. We’re going to check out the children’s story hour at the local library. But I want to keep him occupied and interested, not just set him on the floor with toys. Since he’s likely going to miss out on a couple of months (or more) that he would have spent at day care, I want to stimulate him the way they would have (only without all the other babies, because I’m not sure where to get those).
Problem is, I need help. Moms, dads, nannies, aunties – help! What are some fun/educational activities that you would suggest? Different things than the obvious, things that will stimulate his mind and his interest? I did find a great web site that has some fun ideas (thank you Pinterest), but I could definitely use more. If we haven’t lost our few readers with our sparse posting, please chime in and share your ideas! I could use them.
We need to keep this little man entertained.
Music classes? I know in Portland there are a few places for baby music classes. Also art! There are a lot of fun art ideas for babies on Pinterest. It would be messy but fun I’m sure. Is there a mom meet up group you can join? I’d search meetup.com. That would be a good way to get E around other babies. 🙂
i love the art and music ideas! thanks for the suggestions 🙂
